iMSB release 2.0 has been adapted for iOS 7 and now comes with a flattened, brighter look and feel. A great deal of the user interface has been redesigned for a better and more integrated user experience. Please note that we did not maintain backward compatibility with older iOS versions and thus that iMSB 2.0 requires at least iOS 7.0.
The Wi-FI serial communication with the application has been greatly improved. The iMSB Wi-Fi module now supports firmware 4.0 or higher and functions in soft AP mode. This means that the device behaves exactly the same way as a standard Wi-Fi hotspot. Thanks to its built in DHCP server there is also no need to associated a fixed IP address to the iPhone as it was the case in earlier iMSB versions. iMSB can scan for available devices and configuration is now much more easier. We strongly advise users running older Wi-Fi modules to upgrade to firmware 4.xx, although the older adhoc mode can still be used with the application. We now also offer to purchase ready built and configured modules directly from iMSB.
The display views used to show sensor values have also been dramatically improved. Up to nine views are available, whose layout can be fully customised from a set of different templates. Thus it is possible to display more than one analog meter in a view and the digital value fields can be setup in a much more flexible way. While building these features we had to completely rewrite the underlying data model. Although we tried to maintain backward compatibiliy with older iMSB versions some previous configurations might get lost with this new release.
Navigation through the application has as well been improved and triggering value announcements using gestures is now supported. For instance:
- Swipe horizontally from the left or right edge of the screen to switch between views
- Swipe horizontally on the tab bar to display additional view selection buttons
- In a displayed meter view tap on a value, its corresponding statistic or an analog meter to announce the corresponding value
- Pan vertically in a meter view to announce all values shown in that display. This allows to easily handle announcement lists
Features:
- New iOS 7 look and feed
- Added horizontal swipe gesture to navigate between the different display views
- Support RN-XV Serial to Wi-Fi modules with firmware 4.0 and soft AP-mode
- Added Wi-Fi module auto scanning and selection feature

- The name of each display view and its associated icon can be modified
- Added voice command and vertical pan gesture to trigger the announcement of all valued shown in a value display view
- Added MPX MultiCont Expert sensor
- Added a generic sensor with eight freely definable sensor values
- Fuel level (% fuel) and tank capacity (mL) (as defined in the MSB specification) are now available from the generic sensor
- Added an engine run time value in all RPM sensors
Enhancements:
- Improved gestures for triggering value announcements and application navigation
- Completely overhauled application settings for better overview
- Improved flight log text messages and icons

Bug fixes:
- Running RN-XV modules with firmware 4.xx and soft AP mode resolves the issue that iMSB stopped logging after about 30 minutes
- Fixed some bugs in the value statistics and plotting section that sometimes did not display the correct data
- Fixed some small memory leaks
- Small bug fixes (as always)
